Albert Thomas School Complex, Bordeaux, 2011
We have conceived the school complex as a strong architectural mark, either user-friendly, easily accessible by the inhabitants for the common functions, either protective, embracing the interior courts as a way of assuring the privacy of the children. The overall image of the project shows a continuous volume in double U, with high variations that allow an effective answer to the site's different orientations and to the surrounding constraints. The general volumetry is made out of thin and double side natural light buildings, that assure a great level of lighting in the classrooms and a optimized maximal sunlighting in the courtyards.
