Lions Fountain Square, Paris 19 Parc de la Villette, 2011
The Lions Fountain Square represents the monumental entry in Parc de la Villette. It is simultaneously a place for resting and for meeting, a welcome place and a transition space that connects to the different entities that exist at La Villette. The square is a wide mineral esplanade which importance is enhanced by the architectural works that surround it: the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse, at West, the Cité de la Musique, at East, the Grande Halle, the Pavillion Janvier and the Théâtre de la Villette at North and the Lions Fountain in the middle. The challenge of its renovation is to associate the scale, the paving, the color and the physical connotations of the close architectural objects in order to make the square a strong perceptive and sensorial experience.
